Mumbai Metro: Line 3 Phase 1 Trial Set to Begin in November, Full Detail Inside
Mumbai Metro Line 3 Phase 1 trial run delayed to November; Phase 2 may follow suit, impacting ambitious urban transit plans.

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 Phase 1 is gearing up for its trial run journey, spanning from Aarey to the bustling Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

According to a senior official from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC), this exciting trial run is scheduled to commence in November.

Elevating the anticipation, the MMRC recently marked a significant milestone by successfully conducting the inaugural long-distance trial run. The trial, covering a sprawling 17 kilometers, spanned from the MIDC station to the Vidyanagari Metro station and then back to SEEPZ.

Before this remarkable feat, the MMRC had initiated trial runs on a smaller scale, limited to a three-kilometer stretch between Sariput Nagar in Aarey and Marol, commencing in August 2022.

MMRC officials have disclosed that certain track laying work remains unfinished. Once completed, overhead electrical lines will be charged in both directions, paving the way for comprehensive trial runs throughout Phase 1, connecting Aarey to BKC stations.

However, due to these essential preparations and the impending trial runs, the much-anticipated Phase 1 operations, originally scheduled to kick off by December this year, will likely face a delay, as per an inside source.

The ripple effect of this delay extends to Phase 2, which was poised to commence after a six-month grace period following Phase 1 operations. As a result, the Phase 2 line from BKC to Colaba is also expected to experience a setback, confirms the same source.

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 project is a source of hope and excitement for the people of Mumbai, promising a more convenient and modern transportation system for the city.
