'No Better Feeling Than Dedicating This Milestone to My Son': Bumrah's Adorable Gesture After Remarkable Bowling Show
Jasprit Bumrah made a heart-warming gesture by dedicating his latest milestone of picking 150 Test wickets to his son.

Jasprit Bumrah was the main man for India with the ball, producing a scintillating performance with the older ball. He rattled the English batting unit and returned magical figures of 6/45; his best bowling figures at home. At the same time, he also notched up his 150th Test wicket with the dismissal of opponent skipper Ben Stokes. After wreaking havoc in Visakhapatnam, Bumrah made a sweet gesture as he dedicated his milestone to his son.

Speaking after the stumps on the second day of the ongoing Test, Bumrah was happy with his performance and shared his passion for the longest format of the sport.

On the 150th Test Wicket Milestone

Speaking with bcci.tv, Bumrah said contributing towards the team’s success makes him the happiest as his performance will only matter if the side wins.

“Feels great at that moment but I don’t want to look at numbers. If the team wins then the performance matters. At the end of the day if you contribute towards the team’s success then there is no better feeling,” he said.

On Ben Stokes’ dismissal

One of Bumrah’s victims was England captain Ben Stokes. Batting on 47, Stokes was beaten by a slower delivery that kept a tad low and went under the bat to hit the stumps. The English skipper threw away his bat, gesturing as if he was asking how to play such deliveries.

Calling it an unplanned delivery, Bumrah said, “That was one delivery which I had not planned. I had bowled the out-swinger, but the ball did not swing and it went straight into the arc.”

On Ollie Pope’s dismissal

A lethal toe-crushing Yorker putting Pope on the mat. It was an unplayable delivery and the England No.3 had no answers to it. The Indian quick was happy with the execution of his plan.

“I think that also happened, I remember that Ollie Pope was my 100th wicket. Yes, I remember, that was also a phase where the ball was reversing at the Oval. I wanted to bowl the length ball but I changed my mind and went for a yorker. It didn’t swing much and the execution was good so very happy with it,” Bumrah said.

On Dedicating the Milestone

Jasprit Bumrah is now the fastest bowler (in terms of few balls taken) to pick 150 wickets for India in Test cricket. 6/45 was his third-best bowling figure of his career which he dedicated to his son.

“If I want to dedicate it to someone, there is no better feeling than giving it to my son. He is travelling with me, this is his first tour. I’m more excited to go and see him.

“India have already added 28 runs in the second innings without losing a wicket, but they will be aiming to add more to their lead so that their bowlers can clean up the English batting once again later on as they aim to level the series 1-1 and keep their longstanding record of not suffering a series defeat at home since 2012 alive,” Bumrah concluded.
