Surat Diamond Bourse Brings in the World’s First-Ever Jewellery Mall; All Details Inside
The opening event, which is scheduled for December 17 and will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will represent a critical turning point in the city's dedication to excellence in the diamond sector.

The Surat Diamond Bourse, a spectacular sapce hat serves as a light for the diamond industry, adds to the Surat’s splendour. The Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), which will have 27 showrooms for diamond jewellery across a vast 50,000 square feet inside a mall, would establish a distinguished platform for premium companies. The administrative committee will be in charge of the showroom auction, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the inaugural ceremony on December 17.

The entire SDB campus has a built-up area of 68,17,050 square feet. It consists of nine buildings, each of which has a ground floor plus 15 stories and a maximum elevation of 81 metres. Nagji Sakariya, the president of SDB, says with pride that this complex is the best in the world since it combines the biggest diamond trading hub with well-known international brands.

In addition to the mall, the SDB has a 40,000 square foot Customs House located in the Diamond Club’s upper basement. This building is carefully built to make it easier for customs officers to expedite clearances, which would greatly benefit the region’s gem and jewellery industry. Dinesh Navadiya draws attention to the one-of-a-kind experience that guests can have when touring the largest office building in the world—complete with private displays for diamond jewelry—in the diamond metropolis.

With a carpet surface of 67,28,604 lakh sq ft, the SDB is incredibly large—it is nearly 55,000 square feet larger than the US Pentagon’s 66,73,624 sq ft. The 131 elevators in the building, which are controlled by a destination control system, allow visitors to reach any corner of the top floor of its 15-story towers in six minutes, despite its enormous size.

The CEO of SDB, Mahesh Gadhvi, takes great pride in highlighting the facility’s top-notch infrastructure, which provides owners of diamond jewellery showrooms with access to secured vaults. The city’s dedication to excellence in the diamond sector is demonstrated by the Surat Diamond Bourse.
