Aashiqui Star Anu Aggarwal Reveals Her Reaction On Watching Film After Memory Loss: ‘I Couldn’t Relate…’
Recently, in an exclusive interview with Indianexpress.com, Anu Aggarwal revealed her reaction about watching the iconic film after the accident

Anu Aggarwal rose to fame with the romantic film Aashiqui. Released in 1990, the film was loved by everyone and is considered a cult film. But due to a tragic accident, the actress had lost her memory. Recently, Anu Aggarwal shared her poignant experience of watching the iconic film after the accident and revealed that she struggled to connect with the character she once portrayed on screen.

The actor spoke to Indianexpress.com about her career. “I watched the film when I had my memory loss after the accident. My mother played it for me, but I couldn’t relate with it at all. I couldn’t relate with the girl on screen! My mother kept saying, ‘That’s you!’ I just like a child kept looking at it, but I couldn’t connect. At that time Aashiqui 2 was out, so she then played that for me. But nothing still made sense to me. She told me, ‘See this was your film Aashiqui and now they have made Aashiqui 2.’ I asked her, ‘what is 2?’ Because I didn’t know numbers, what was one, two, three. That was my state,” she was quoted saying.

The actress also said, “I couldn’t think the girl on screen was me, but I felt the emotions. The film had such strong emotions. That’s why people still talk about it. At the end of the day, the audience responds to what they see and during the film, they were throwing money on screen, laughing and crying. That happened because the film does move you.” Anu Aggarwal also mentioned that she is now reading scripts and meeting filmmakers.

Anu Aggarwal, post-accident, followed spirituality. In 2001, she embraced Sanyas opting for renunciation and keeping her head shaved. Living humbly with a bag in hand, Anu delved into the study of the mind and human psychology.
