Semi-final matches continued to decide the top contender for the United States championship. The winner of the finals will be the top contender to face the current United States champion, YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul.

The latest episode of WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown aired live at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin on December 22. The show kicked off with AJ Styles cutting a promo. He made a surprise return last week during Randy Orton and Jimmy Uso’s match. Styles was set to face Solo Sikoa in the main event on SmacDown’s latest episode.

The night also saw a fierce eight-woman tag action as Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vaga, and Michin took on the Damage CTRL. In a title defence, we witnessed Dragon Lee putting his North American championship on the line. Whereas, semi-final matches continued to decide the top contender for the United States championship. The winner of the finals will be the top contender to face the current United States champion, YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul.

Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega and Michin vs. Damage CTRL and Dakota Kai in an Eight Woman Tag Team Holiday Havoc Match

The eight-woman tag-team match begins in chaos as all the women waste no time in going after each other. After some back-and-forth action, Bayley sets up for the Bayley-to-Belly on Belair but she lands on her feet. She catches Bayley with the KOD before SKY lands an Over the Moonsault. SKY then walks into an Eat Defeat before ascending to the top rope and delivering a leg drop for a pinfall win.

Dragon Lee (champion) vs. Butch for the North American Championship

The match starts with Butch sending Lee crashing onto the mat before delivering a knee. Lee soon counters with a hurricanrana and a kick from the apron. Butch tries to recover as he mounts the top rope but Lee trips him. Lee then rains a double stomp of his own from the top rope but Butch counters with a pop-up right hand. He sets up for the Bitter End but Lee counters it into an Operation Dragon for the win.

Kevin Owens vs Carmelo Hayes in a semi-final match for the United States Championship Tournament

The two lock up right from the get-go before Owens pushes Hayes into a corner. Hayes responds with new forearms but Owens manages to counter with a back elbow, followed by a senton. Owen later delivers a DDT before setting up for the Pop-Up Powerbomb. He does get countered but lands it on the second attempt. He then adds another Swanton Bomb and a stunner to pick up an easy victory.

Santos Escobar vs Bobby Lashley in a semi-final match for the United States Championship Tournament

The match starts with Bobby Lashley delivering a clothesline to Escobar in the opening seconds. Escobar later recovers and ascends to the top rope but Lashley pushes him out of the ring. After a commercial break, a masked figure appears out of nowhere to distract Lashley. This enables Escobar to roll up his opponent and take a pinfall victory.

AJ Styles vs Solo Sikoa

As the bell rings, Styles starts with some chops on Sikoa. He then delivers a jumping knee, following up with an enzuigiri. After the break, Sikoa manages to take control with a back body drop to Styles. After some back-and-forth action, Styles lands the Pele Kick as he sets up for his finisher. Despite getting countered, he manages to land the Phenomenal Forearm before getting blindsided by Roman Reigns. This led to a disqualification and no winner was decided.
