‘Karan Johar Still Doesn’t Forgive Me’: Raveena Tandon On Rejecting Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
The actress believes that Karan Johar could not understand her perspective and thinking at that time.

Raveena Tandon is one of the popular actresses of Bollywood. She debuted with the movie Patthar Ke Phool, alongside Salman Khan. She is currently creating a buzz with her upcoming web series Karmma Calling. It is directed by Ruchi Narain. It also stars Namratha Sheth, Varun Sood and Vikramjeet Virk in the lead roles. The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on the eve of Republic Day. Amid this, an interview of Raveena Tandon is going viral, in which she revealed that she was the first choice for the role of Tina in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It was released in 1998.

During an interview with a media portal, Raveena Tandon said that Karan Johar has still not forgiven her for rejecting Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She said that she got an offer to play Rani Mukerji’s character in the film. She believes that Karan could not understand her perspective and thinking at that time. Kajol and Raveena were considered the top actresses at that time. Both of them started their career in lead roles. As per media reports, it is believed that Raveena Tandon rejected the role because of its less screen time and importance in the movie. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starred Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in lead roles.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hah was the third Bollywood film for the actress Rani Mukerji. The actress debuted in Bollywood with the movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat in 1996. She started gaining popularity from her second film Ghulam, which was released in 1998. It was directed by Vikram Bhatt.

Raveena Tandon’s list of film rejections also includes Phool Aur Kaante (1991) to the song Chaiyya Chaiyya in Dil Se (1998). She was also approached for the lead role in the series Aarya before Sushmita Sen was finalised by Ram Madhvani.

Raveena Tandon has four projects lined up for this year across genres – Karmma Calling, Patna Shukla, Ghudchadi, and Welcome Back.

Raveena made her digital debut with the thriller series Aranyak in 2021. It was released on Netflix and was directed by Vinay Waikul. Raveena Tandon also won awards for her Aranyak and her performance was also appreciated by the audience and critics.
