BPSC Success Story: How This Bihar Woman Became The Assistant BO At State Secretariat
Sarita Kumar said that every member of her family has supported her in achieving this feat.

It is said that those who work hard never fail in life. Recently, one such success story has garnered everyone’s attention. Sarita Kumar, who comes from a poor family, has achieved success and has been selected as an assistant branch officer at the Bihar secretariat. According to reports, Sarita Kumar hails from a village where one has to travel 5 kilometres to find a teacher. She is from a village in the Banke Bazar block of Gaya. Sarita has been recently selected for the post of Assistant Branch Officer in the Bihar Secretariat. Her journey has been very difficult. Sarita continued her studies and failed at about a dozen jobs. After this, she got a job offer from Eastern Railway in September 2023, before she was selected for the post of Secretariat Assistant Branch Officer.

Sarita, in media interaction, said that her village’s environment is not conducive for study. She used to go to Banke Bazaar, 5 kilometres away from the village, every day to study. Apart from this, she stayed in Gaya for one year and studied.

She also said that she continued her studies while doing all the household work in her home; she used to study every day until 12 at night. Along with this, she also brought fodder from the farm for cooking and to feed the animals. While talking to Local 18, Sarita said that every member of the family has supported her in achieving this feat. Before marriage, she got the support of her parents; and after marriage, she got the support of her husband and in-laws, especially her father-in-law. He always encouraged her to study.

Apart from self-studying at home, Sarita Kumar took coaching as well. Before this, she got a job in Railways in the month of September and used to work there before she got this opportunity. She had failed in 11 jobs, including Bihar Police, RPF, Inspector, and NTPC.

Sarita’s husband Binod Kumar is the first person from the village to get a job in railways. Many people have been inspired after seeing him; currently, six people are working in the village. His wife, Sarita, is also among them. He also shared that he is very happy that his wife has been selected for the post of Assistant Branch Officer. Along with this, Sarita’s mother-in-law Kamla Devi said that Sarita used to read all day after doing household and farm work. When we woke up in the morning, she used to study.
