Thiruvananthapuram: The accused in a hit-and-run case in a Kerala college surrendered on Sunday and will be presented before a magistrate court. The incident resulted in the death of a third-year Civil Engineering student.
On August 19, accused Baiju was driving the open jeep which hit the engineering student during Onam celebrations at the College campus, police said. Tasni succumbed to her injuries two days later.
Baiju faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The girl was returning to the hostel when the incident occurred, officials had said.
College authorities had said that strict action would be initiated against the culprits and celebrations were held without permission.
Police had registered a case under provisions of traffic rules and the jeep involved in the accident had been seized.
