Few takers for red gram at FP shops

VIJAYAWADA: There are no takers for the red gram sold at fare price shops in the city as it is sold at the same price that of in the open market, but of lower quality. The statistics released by the district public distribution system during the city Food Advisory Committee meeting on Monday reveal that Red gram, at present, is being sold in FP shops at `50 kg, when red gram was sold at `90 in the open market.Since then, the price have never been revised even after the price came down to `50 in the open market. Now, the pulse is being sold at the same price at FP shops and open market. But, the quality at FP shops is far below. With this, no ration card holder were purchasing red gram from the FP shops.
