Worker dies in building collapse

GUNTUR: A labourer died and another was seriously injured when the roof of an abandoned school building collapsed at Gandhi Bomma Centre in Gurajala on Thursday morning. On hearing the news, revenue, Panchayat Raj, fire services and police officials rushed to the town and  took up rescue operation.  The deceased was identified as Mahankali Srinu (32). The government sanctioned Rs 4.6 lakh for renovation of the Urdu school building in Gurajala, which was in a dilapidated condition. Classes for the schoolchildren are being run in another school in the town now. Despite sanction of funds, the renovation of the school building has not been taken up.
