Angelina Jolie’s most recent film, Without Blood, recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Jolie has touched upon the far-neglected subject of war in films alongside Salma Hayek Pinault. Jolie authored and directed the film, and her sons Maddox and Pax were hired to act as a point of contact between the director and the other divisions. It turns out that because the young men were so committed to their work, Hayek enjoyed having them around the set.
Speaking at PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly TIFF suite, Hayek stated, “They work hard.” The 58-year-old went on to say that Jolie was “very professional with them” on set.
“She’s demanding. They got the respect of the crew, and they were good with the crew, and they were very in their place,” Desperado actress said.
The Mexican-American actress said that Jolie’s sons treated her very professionally and not the way they did when she wasn’t on set.
Hayek declared, “They are very serious about what they do.”
Given that Hayek has been friends with Jolie for a long time, she also mentioned how, at the start of filming, she poked fun at the boys.
However, Hayek said that she made the decision to keep her personal and professional life separate and “just treat them like professionals because it’s disrespectful” since Maddox and Pax both demonstrated professionalism.
The actress described the vibe on Jolie’s set as “like home.”
She co-starred with Jolie in the Marvel film Eternals, which was released in 2021.
About their relationship, Hayek claimed that although she was somewhat of a mother figure to Jolie in Eternals, in Without Blood, Jolie assumed that role since she would visit the venue and “run it like a family.”
“She was a very efficient mother, but she was also there emotionally every step of the way,” the Oscar nominee continues.
Hayek portrays Nina in the newest war drama, which is about her dealing with the fallout from an undefined conflict. This modest chamber piece, which was filmed at Rome’s renowned Cinecittà studios, explores how conflict seeps into every individual it touches, even when the weapons stop booming.
