Indian captain Rohit Sharma has revealed that he hasn’t been active on social media for the past nine months as a way of tackling the ‘noise’ ahead of the monumental ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan.
Having registered their biggest-ever ODI win over Babar Azam’s men in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash, there will be all the more anticipation and drama regarding one of the most epic rivalries in world cricket.
Social media these days plays a major role, with cricketers sometimes being hailed as demigods, while others are trolled brutally. There’s a lot of hype surrounding the India-Pakistan game on Saturday, October 14 but Rohit Sharma is unfazed.

When quizzed about how the Hitman tackles the ‘noise’ ahead of such a big game, Rohit Sharma said that he is not much active on social media. The 36-year-old added that everyone has their own way of dealing with the buzz, before shifting the attention to simply playing good cricket against a quality opposition.
“I’m not on social media for past nine months now. So, everyone has their own way of dealing with it. Some people like it, some don’t. But that’s not my place to tell anyone how to do it. They have to work out their own way of dealing with these things. Like I said many times before, in the context of it, yes, it’s a massive game,” said Rohit.
The Indian skipper added, “But for us, what is important is, we are playing an opposition tomorrow, which will be quality. So, we’ve just got to come against a quality opposition and play good cricket, which we’ve done in the last two games. And hopefully we can again show some consistency in our performance and play a good game of cricket.”

The last time Pakistan played on Indian soil was in 2016 for the T20 World Cup, adding all the more anticipation to the fixture. The Asia Cup 2023 Group A fixture between India and Pakistan was washed out, the Super 4 fixture was won by India by 220 runs.
Babar Azam and Co. will certainly have revenge on their agendas, as both teams come into the clash on the back of two wins under their belt in the ODI World Cup 2023 so far.
