Jeep India is set to unveil the locally-assembled Compass SUV in India on April 12, 2017. The launch comes after the company launched the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee in India last year. There are also reports that the company would only be unveiling the car and the launch is expected to take place by mid-2017.
The Compass SUV will be assembled at Fiat's facility in Ranjangaon and upon launch, is expected to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V. Jeep is also expected to leave no stone unturned when it comes to offering different variants of the car as there could be an array of options to choose from – Petrol, Diesel, Automatic and also a 4-wheel drive variant.
The car is expected to come with a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine and a 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine which could come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission option.
Being specifically made for the Indian market, the car is expected to be priced aggressively for which, the company could alter the exterior and interior styling of the Compass SUV as compared to the international offering.
