Skoda To Unveil Smallest, Most Affordable EV Tomorrow; Here's When It Will Come To India
Skoda Auto has released a small video of its new EV for worldwide markets, which will be its smallest and cheapest ever.

Skoda Auto, the Czech automaker, is preparing to unveil its electric vehicle (EV) at its annual press conference tomorrow.

Skoda Auto has released a teaser video for the new electric vehicle model, ahead of its official debut.

This new Skoda EV will be marketed as the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV yet. It is expected to launch initially in international markets before making its way to India. The forthcoming Skoda EV is estimated to be priced at about Rs 23 lakh in India.

Furthermore, Skoda also intends to launch the Enyaq EV in India by the end of 2024. The automaker hopes that its new model will make electric transportation more accessible. This new electric vehicle will join Skoda’s existing global EV lineup, which includes the Enyaq EV in a variety of configurations.

There isn’t much information available about the future EV, but the teaser video shows that it has a hatchback-like appearance and narrow LED headlights with lighted Skoda insignia. This new EV is believed to be built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB Entry platform.

The new Skoda EV is anticipated to have two battery pack options: 38 kWh and 56 kWh. It is believed that the next Skoda EV will have a maximum driving range of 450 kilometres on a single charge. The EV is expected to compete in global markets with vehicles such as the Volkswagen ID.2 electric hatchback.

Skoda EV: When Will It Be Launched In India?

The new Skoda EV will most likely be released in global markets initially. However, the possibility of an Indian launch cannot be ruled out. The automaker recently stated that it intends to enter the mass market electric car industry in India shortly.

“We are looking at everything we want to bring volume electric car to India. How and when we are going to do it, we do not know yet. We are looking at the options that would be the best for India. But we of course want to participate in the growth of the electric (vehicle) market in India,” Martin Jahn, member of Skoda’s management board said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

On the other hand, Skoda is presently testing the Enyaq EV for its launch in India, which is scheduled for later this year. The Enyaq EV is available in a variety of configurations worldwide. Skoda is set to offer the Enyaq 80 in India. It has a single electric motor installed on the back axle with a maximum power output of 282 bhp and 310 Nm.
