Young Indian batter Rinku Singh has started his preparations for the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The 26-year-old has arrived at the KKR Academy in Bengaluru where he has begun sweating it out in the nets. Rinku will hold the key in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad, especially the way he played last season. The left-hander picked up the momentum smashing 5 sixes to Gujarat Titans’ Yash Dayal and ended the tournament as the team’s highest scorer, garnering more than 400 runs.

After a terrific run in the IPL 2023, Rinku made it to the Indian T20 side and made his debut on the tour of Ireland. He last featured in the 3-match series against Afghanistan last month which India won 3-0.

Ahead of IPL 2024, Rinku was spotted smashing big sixes in the nets at the KKR academy. Several young fans were present in the gallery to witness his stroke play as they later gathered to click pictures with the cricketer and also have his autograph. Interestingly, the kids even asked Rinku to sign their forehead and neck.

The video was shared on the official Instagram handle of KKR and the caption read, “Sabka favourite, Rinku Singh!”

Meanwhile, the franchise will welcome their skipper Shreyas Iyer back to the camp. The right-hand batter entirely missed the previous season due to a back injury. In his absence, Nitish Rana led the team which ended 7th on the table with 12 points.

The eyes will also be on Australian pacer Mitchell Starc who will return to the IPL as the most-expensive player in the tournament history. Starc’s payout was significantly more than Sam Curran got last year when Punjab Kings paid a then-record Rs 18.50 crore for the England all-rounder.

“It was a shock, of course. Nothing I could have dreamt of. But no doubt, there will be some pressure that comes with the territory. But having the extra experience I have from my last IPL, hopefully, helps. Few ups and downs I’ve had before but this comes with the territory and I try to be successful and have as much impact as possible,” Starc said.
