Using 'Pillow or Wire', Suchana Seth 'Smothered' Son 36 Hours Earlier | What We Know So Far
Bengaluru Murder Case: The body of Suchana Seth's son has been handed over to his father, Venkat Raman, after the post-mortem. The last rites are likely to take place in Bengaluru.

Suchana Seth, the chief executive officer (CEO) of an artificial intelligence start-up, had “smothered” her four-year-old son to death at least 36 hours before the post-mortem. There was reportedly no wounds or signs of struggle, and a pillow or a wire is likely to have been used.

The latest information was revealed in the child’s post-mortem report. Dr Kumar Naik, a government doctor in Karnataka who conducted the post-mortem, told reporters, “The boy was killed more than 36 hours earlier. He was strangled to death or what we call smothering. It doesn’t look like the child was strangulated using hands. It looks like a pillow or a wire or some other material was used.”

He added that the body did not show signs of rigor mortis – stiffening of the limbs of the corpse caused by chemical changes in the muscles.

• It is said that Seth murdered her son because she did not want her estranged husband, Venkat Raman, to meet him. The court had allowed to Raman to meet their four-year-old son on Sundays after the couple’s divorce proceedings in 2020. The child was born in 2019 after the couple married in 2010, an officer close to the investigation said.

• A senior police official said, “Raman, who was in Jakarta (Indonesia), was contacted by the police and told about the incident. After that, he returned to India. On his arrival in Chitradurga in the evening, he gave his consent for a post-mortem on his child’s body.”

• The body of the child has been handed over to his father after the post-mortem. He will be cremated later in the day at Rajaji Nagar in Bengaluru.

• According to the investigation, the 39-year-old CEO had also attempted suicide by cutting her left wrist with a sharp object.
