New Delhi: Not all rich people are from metropolitan cities going by Forbes magazine's 'India's 40 Richest' list. But yes, most of them do call Mumbai their home.
Sixteen of the 40 richest Indians live in Mumbai, the country's financial capital, nine in Delhi and only one in Chennai, but none at all in Kolkata.
Interestingly, non-metro Bangalore is home to seven of the wealthiest Indians, Pune to three and even Hisar to one.
Though Infosys' N R Narayana Murthy lives in Bangalore, he has his roots in Mysore. Savitri Jindal, who made it to the 21st rank among the 40 richest, lives in Hisar.
Lakhsmi Niwas Mittal, the richest Indian and the world's third wealthiest with a fortune of $25 billion, lives outside the country in London but hails from Sadulpur in Rajasthan.
Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal too lives in London, while Anurag Dikshit, who founded Internet gaming outfit – Party Gaming – has made his home in Gibraltar.
Among the list toppers, Mukesh and Anil Ambani live in Mumbai and Azim Premji in Bangalore.
