New Delhi: The battle between RS Lodha and BK Birla has taken a new turn as yet another petition has been filed in the Calcutta High Court.
This time, it's Lodha who has filed a suit against Birla alleging defamation. He has demanded a compensation of Rs 100 crore.
The court has admitted the petition, and asked Birla to appear before it by August 7.
In the petition, Lodha has alleged that Birla had made a series of defamatory statements to the media, tarnishing his public image.
The Calcutta High Court has issued notice to B K Birla for the civil defamation suit filed by Rajendra S Lodha, claimant to the Rs 5,000 crore assets of the M P Birla group.
Lodha has sought probate for the 1999 purported will before the high court vide in which she had given away assets of M P Birla group to Lodha, a chartered accountant.
Lodha and the Birlas are fighting several court cases over the M P Birla group assets.
While the Birlas have asserted that the assets were meant for charity, Lodha has laid claim to the property stating that Priyamvada had wanted to uphold her husband M P Birla's name.
