Indian captain Rohit Sharma wanted to bowl first in St Lucia in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 game against Australia. However, the men in blue lost the toss and were put to bat. Although India lost Virat Kohli for a duck, the Indian skipper didn’t let go of a fine opportunity to punish the Australians on a belter of a track at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

Veteran fast bowler Mitchell Starc was left frustrated after the Indian skipper hammered him for 29 runs in an over. The left-arm quick was welcomed in his second over with back-to-back sixes from Rohit Sharma who further smashed a boundary off the third ball, over mid-on, and whacked the fourth delivery for a 96 m maximum over deep mid-wicket.

A dot and a wide ball later, the Indian skipper looked to slog a juicy full-toss from Starc for another six but got it through the top edge that flew over third man.

As Rohit ended the over fiercely, his wife Ritika Sajdeh was seen in the stands with a big smile on her face.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl against India in a crucial game in St Lucia. Australia made one change, bringing in Mitchell Starc in place of Ashton Agar. On the other hand, India fielded an unchanged playing eleven.

Meanwhile, the Rain interrupted play after just four overs of India’s innings. India were 43 for 1 in 4.1 overs when it started to pour. Skipper Rohit Sharma was batting on 41 off 14 balls alongside Rishabh Pant (1). Virat Kohli was the lone wicket to fall for a duck in the second over.
