BCCI on Wednesday announced the annual player contracts for Team India with quite few big names missing out on this year’s annual retainership including Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. A few players who seemed to have reached the end of their international careers also have been omitted from this year’s list while a host of fresh faces make the list, none more prominent than Yashwasi Jaiswal who walks into the Grabe B contract worth INR 3 Crore. A few players got promoted to a higher Grade while a few got demoted.

This year a total of 30 players have been given annual player contracts as opposed to 26 last year. There was no change in players in Grade A+ – the highest category worth INR 7 Cr. With India captain Rohit Sharma and all format players Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah retaining their sports.
Grade A saw a few changes with Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj and KL Rahul moving up from Grade B to Grade A while the likes of Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant were demoted to Grade B. Ravichandra Ashwin, Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya retained their places in Grade A from last year.

Yashaswi Jaiswal got his first annual contract and was slotted in Grade B while Kuldeep Yadav got was promoted from Grade C. Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara, who were in the Grade B last year were omitted from this year’s contract. Suryakumar Yadav retains his place in Grade B from last year while Gill and Rahul have moved up to Grade A.
In Grade C, Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar are the fresh faces while the Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Hooda and Yuzvendra Chahal were dropped this year. Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar and KS Bharat retain their places in Grade C from last year.
