Sachin Tendulkar lauded the efforts of young Indian batters Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill for their valiant effort at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday in Day 3 of the opening Test between India and Bangladesh.
India began the day with a lead of 308 runs, which the hosts extended to 514 before declaring their second innings as Gill and Pant made incredible centuries.
Tendulkar took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to heap praise on Pant, who is returning to the longest format of the game after a prolonged absence and Gill, who added an unbeaten 119 runs.
“Loved watching @ShubmanGill glide his way to a hundred. And @RishabhPant17 , despite being away from the longer format for quite some time, looks as sharp as ever. Great to see both of them in such fine rhythm,” Tendulkar’s post read.

Bangladesh won the toss and put India to bat first as the hosts made 376 runs before being bundled out. The visitors could only manage 149 runs in their first innings as the Indian bowling unit wrapped up the Bangla batting attack.
India made 287 runs for the loss of four wickets in the second innings thanks to tons from the youngsters to set the tourists a target of 515 runs to win.
Star pacer Jaspri Bumrah dismissed Zakir Hasan for 33 runs in the final innings of the game before homeboy Ravichandran Ashwin, who starred with a century in the first innings, got the scalp of Shadam Islam for 35 runs to send the opposition opening order packing.
