IND vs ENG, 3rd Test: India Register Biggest Win by Run-margin in Rajkot Test Against England
The win, by a margin of 434 runs, was the side's biggest-ever win by runs as Rohit Sharma and Co. took a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series against the Englishmen.

Team India registered a historic win at Rajkot on Sunday as they got the beating of a hapless English side by a margin of 434 runs by bundling out the visitors for a paltry 122 runs after setting them a target of 557.

The win was the side’s biggest-ever win by runs as Rohit Sharma and Co. took a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series against the Englishmen.

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stayed unbeaten at 214 runs, while Sarfaraz Khan remained unbeaten at 68 runs as India out-batted the tourists.

India’s previous biggest run by margin was their victory over New Zealand in the year 2021, in which the hosts claimed a 372-run win.

The defeat was England’s second biggest by runs only behind the 562-run defeat they suffered to against Australia at the Oval back in 1934.

Indian won the toss and opted to have a bat first as they put up 445 runs in the first innings thanks to Rohit’s ton and Ravindra Jadeja’s century. The skipper made 131 runs, while hometown boy Jadeja added 112 runs. Sarfaraz Khan chipped in with 62 runs before the Indian bowling unit took over.

Mohammed Siraj picked up four wickets to restrict England to 319 runs in the first innings after Ben Duckett’s ton had given the Englishmen a good start.

Ravichandran Ashwin reached a landmark 500 Test wickets with his dismissal of Zak Crawley, while Jadeja also contributed with the ball with his two dismissals.

India piled on their lead in the second innings as Jaiswal’s incredible batting took the game away from the visitors and firmly grabbed the driving seat. The left-hander took on the English bowling attack with valour and it paid off dividends. Shubman Gill made 91 runs, while Sarfaraz made yet another fifty-plus score with his unbeaten 68 runs.

Jadeja’s five-wicket haul in front of an adoring home crowd helped India fold England up for a lowly total of 122 runs in the second innings to inch ahead in the lead.
