The atmosphere in Mumbai was electrifying on Thursday night during Team India’s victory parade in the city. The men in blue had returned from the Caribbean with the T20 World Cup trophy and had a blast with a sea of cricket fans. After the parade, the players headed to the iconic Wankhede Stadium which was all decked up to welcome the World Champions.
The outgoing figures of the team – skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and head coach Rahul Dravid – addressed the gathering after BCCI officials handed the prize money worth Rs 125 crore to the team. The players came to the stage one after another and shook hands with the dignitaries of the Indian Cricket Board.

A video from the ceremony is going viral in which BCCI secretary Jay Shah could be seen giving a fan-boy stare at Virat Kohli. The netizens are going mad over it, relating themselves to Shah.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the two elder statesmen of the Indian team, articulated the feelings of players to the scores of fans across the country when they told the huge gathering how happy and proud they were feeling after bringing the trophy back home.
“This trophy is for the entire nation, along with all the players that have represented the country,” said India captain Rohit Sharma as he along with his teammates was accorded grand felicitations. The BCCI handed over to the team and the support staff a cheque of Rs 125 crore that it had announced as a reward for their victory.
“Since the time we have come to India, it has been wonderful. The reception we have got has been wonderful. The trophy belongs to everyone, to the players, the support staff, the BCCI officials, along with the people who have wanted us to win the World Cup, this trophy belongs to them,” said Rohit.
