Who will be India’s next head coach?
A big question that has been bothering the fans as Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends with the T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean. Dravid, who was given an extension after India’s loss at the ODI World Cup final, bows out after guiding the team to a historic win as India ended their drought of ICC titles after 11 years. On the other hand, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has said the next head coach will take charge from the Sri Lanka tour later this month but didn’t give out a name. But if media reports are to be believed, it will be Gautam Gambhir coaching the Indian cricket team for the next three years.
If the BCCI appoints Gambhir as the next head coach of Team India, the former cricketer has to part ways with his IPL commitments. After mentoring Lucknow Super Giants for 2 seasons, Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders in the same capacity and inspired the Shreyas Iyer-led side to a third title win after 10 years.
Recently, it was learned that Gambhir visited Eden Gardens to shoot a farewell video. As reported by Times Now, the video will showcase his journey with KKR.
“It was a low-key affair, but Gambhir wanted to bid goodbye to his fans with a message and that is why they shot a video at the Eden,” the official told the news channel in case of anonymity.
Meanwhile, a few pictures of Gambhir from Eden Gardens are doing rounds on social media with the claim that they are from the video shoot for which he visited Kolkata on July 5. However, News18 CricketNext cannot verify the authenticity of the claims.

Gambhir shares a deep connection with KKR and Eden Gardens. He was the first captain to lead the team to win IPL title wins in 2012 and 2014. As a batter, Gambhir scored 4217 runs in 154 matches, averaging 31.24.
