It’s a trophy he has been hunting for a long time despite having won it during the initial few months of his international career. Rohit Sharma started his India career in 2007 and was part of their victorious campaign at the inaugural World T20 too. And once he took over as the captain, across formats, the dream was to win a world title as a captain.

2023 presented him with not one but two chances to realise that dream but both ended in heartbreaks. Having come agonisingly close to becoming a world cup winning captain only made his more resilient and he had another crack at bringing home the trophy.
Rohit turned his dream into reality on June 29 when India defeated South Africa in a pulsating contest at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. This was his second world cup title win as a player and first as captain.
And he’s been taking good care of the world cup as was evident from a viral clip in which the skipper can be seen cleaning the silverware ahead of Team India’s victory parade in Mumbai.

The BCCI organised a roadshow to celebrate the Indian team’s victory at the T20 World Cup last month and fans turned out in huge numbers to congratulate the champions.
The players were also felicitated during a ceremony held at the Wankhede Stadium where the Indian contingent was presented with a cash reward of Rs 125 crore.
It was a busy Thursday for the Indian cricketers and support staff as they landed in India following a 16-hour non-stop flight from Barbados. They checked in at a hotel in New Delhi in the morning before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence following which headed directly to the airport from where they flew to Mumbai for the parade.
