The all-rounder, Nitish Reddy might not have had much to say with the bat during the Duleep Trophy 2024 opening game for India B, but his stellar catch has resulted in the side getting themselves back in the game on the final day against India A in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was stood at the second slip position when Mayank Agarwal nicked the short-of-length delivery by Yash Dayal which darted towards him. Reddy pulled off a diving catch which bobbled away, but he kept it in his hands to give the B-team their initial breakthrough in the second innings.

India B will be looking to get all six points by the end of Day 4 as Yash Dayal starred in the morning session with three scalps along with Navdeep Saini getting the better of Shubman Gill yet again.
The four-wicket collapse has resulted in India A being at risk of suffering a loss despite being in a winning position after a quick start by Gill and Riyan Parag. Much like the previous innings, the senior stars have not been able to capitalise on their starts and are in dire need of a big partnership to help them carry through to the end of the day for a draw or even a win.

Reddy will be expected to take up some of the bowling duties as well as the day goes by. He chipped in with 11 overs in the first innings where he went wicket-less but maintained a decent economy-rate of 1.7. Should he be able to do the same in the second innings, he could be a vital asset in building the pressure from one end so that the bowler on the other end can get the breakthroughs.

So far the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led B side have used three bowlers with the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Saini and Dayal respectively. In the spin department they have the likes of R Sai Kishore, Washington Sundar and Musheer Khan to call upon should they decide to opt for a slow-bowling approach.
