During the recent IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma credited Yuvraj Singh, on several occasions, for playing a significant role in his success. Abhishek played a vital role in SRH’s run to the final, consistently providing explosive start while opening the innings.
Having played a key role in shaping up the career of the young batter, is is Yuvraj gravitating towards a career in coaching?
Well, the legendary allrounder isn’t averse to the idea but he will only get into coaching once his kids get a bit older.
“I would love to do that but with my state (Punjab) players, it gives me time. I can do according to my time. My kids are young. When they get a bit older, I would like to get into a bit more coaching and mentoring. I’m just taking my time,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by PTI.

There are several reports claiming that Gautam Gambhir, a former teammate of Yuvraj, is a leading contender to succeed Rahul Dravid as the next head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team.
Yuvraj is currently in USA as an ICC ambassador for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 which got underway with hosts USA taking on Canada.
India will take on Ireland on June 5 with an aim to win the trophy for the first time since 2007 when Yuvraj was part of the squad.
India haven’t won an ICC trophy since 2013 having come close to ending their wait on several occasions since then but falling short.
Yuvraj feels it’s a matter of time before India win an ICC title but for that the players will have to back their strengths rather than worrying about where opponents could harm them.
“I just feel that we played the World Cup 2007 final and we’ve been the qualifying semis and I think it’s just a matter of time…I believe we have the self-belief of winning big tournaments. I think if India believes and backs themselves and play to their own strengths, I’m sure they’ll go all the way. And that’s what I believe in,” Yuvraj said.
“I think that’s the reason why we won. We focused on where, how we are good and the things that we need to do rather than thinking of where the opposition is going to harm us. We have the match winners,” he added.
