The only respite and hope for these students are scholarship programmes that help finance their academic needs abroad. The Tata Trust has one such scholarship programme for female students who want to do their higher studies from universities in the USA, UK and Europe.
The name of this scholarship provided by Tata Trust is Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust Scholarship. This scholarship is given every year to 10 academically bright women to pursue post-graduation from foreign universities.

– Must have graduated from any university in India.
– There should also be two years of work experience in the relevant field.
– Must have applied for admission in a reputed university in the US, Europe or UK.
This scholarship is available for post-graduation in subjects like Social Science, Social Work, Gender Studies, Child Health, Development and Nutrition, Public Health, Community Health Service and Reproductive Health, Rural Development Work, and Communication for Development. Course fees of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh are covered in the scholarship, along with travelling and lodging expenses. The duration of the course and programme are also important factors. It also depends on how the candidate performs in their interview.
Those who are chosen for the scholarship will need to send in a clear copy of the ‘Financial Capacity” or “Proof of Funds” document, which verifies the candidates’ ability to pay for the part of the course fee not sponsored by the scholarship.
