Ayushman Bharat To Delhi Arogya Kosh Yojana, Free Govt Health Schemes
Recently, the Central government announced that all elder citizens above 70 years will also get the benefit of the Ayushman Bharat programme scheme from October.

Good health is a key factor to a good life. However, due to rising inflation, healthcare costs have increased steadily over the past few years which could be a big burden to several people especially, the lower middle class and those below the poverty line. Keeping the expenses of medical treatment in mind, the government has many schemes under which people can get treatment for free in India.

Ayushman Bharat

The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), also known as the Ayushman Bharat programme, is one of India’s most comprehensive health insurance schemes started by the Government of India. The initiative attempts to prevent economically needy families from the high cost of medical treatment.

Recently, the Central government announced that all elder citizens above 70 years will also get the benefit of this scheme from October. This initiative will assist around 6 crore older individuals and 4.5 crore families across the country. Initially, it did not include elderly people of all categories. The scheme offers up to Rs 5 lakh of health insurance coverage per family every year.

Free Treatment In Government Hospitals In Delhi

All the hospitals under the Delhi government offer free treatment for the citizens of the state. If the waiting period exceeds 30 days, treatment can be provided in a private hospital, with the Delhi Government covering the cost. This requires a Delhi Voter ID card.

Free Treatment For Road Accident Victims

If any person gets injured in a road accident in Delhi, he/she can get free treatment at a nearby private hospital. The total expense of the treatment will be covered by the Government of Delhi.

Delhi Arogya Kosh Yojana (DAK)

The scheme provides financial assistance to the extent of Rs 5 Lakhs to needy patients for treatment of any illness /disease in Government hospitals operated by the Delhi government, the central government, local bodies or autonomous hospitals under the state government.

Swasthya Sathi- West Bengal

The Swasthya Sathi scheme, launched for the citizens of West Bengal, offers basic health cover for secondary and tertiary care up to Rs 5 Lakh per annum per family. It is advised to visit the official sites to check the eligibility criteria to take maximum benefits of these Government health schemes.
