Right from the beginning of her acting career, Ananya Panday has been making headlines for her personal life. Speculations about her romantic life have been the grapevine’s favourite topic of discussion. However, largely, she has managed to deal with the downside of her profession with a lot of gusto. In fact, last year, private moments of her vacationing with rumoured beau Aditya Roy Kapur got leaked and went viral on social media.
In a recent chat with News18 Showsha, Ananya revealed that when her pictures that are not meant for public fodder still make rounds on social media, it doesn’t take a toll on her. “I can’t say it bothers me. As actors, we signed up for it. It’s going to happen and people are going to be curious,” she said.
However, Ananya would like to protect the sanctity of her personal life to the best of her ability as she added, “But it’s up to us to draw the line to protect what’s important as much as we can and that’s what I try to do. I can’t get upset about it because it’s a part of my profession. I can only control whatever is in my power.”
The Dream Girl 2 and Student of the Year 2 actor has often been on the receiving end of incessant trolling for enjoying the privileges of nepotism. While her stellar act in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan has shut down many detractors, she admits to being misunderstood by many on the internet, who often criticise her for her statements and opinions, and question her creative mettle.
Talking about the biggest misconception that people have about her, she explained, “Whenever I tell people that I love reading, they get shocked and tell me, ‘You read?’ But I love it. Sitting in a corner and reading a book is my favourite thing to do. During the shoot of Gehraiyaan, I used to read on set. Shakun (Batra; director) and all used to start laughing and saying, ‘You aren’t actually reading, are you?’”
The 25-year-old also often grabs attention for her unfiltered way of speaking and choice of words. However, she has no qualms about being a part of online chatter and scrutiny. “I don’t like to live with any regrets. Even if I’ve said something wrong or silly, I’m okay with owning it and taking it in my stride. No one’s perfect and it’s boring to be perfect,” Ananya said, who recently cooked up a storm on the internet with her ‘I’m Ananya Coy Kapur’ statement on Koffee With Karan season 8.
She added, “If I can be so completely myself and unapologetically so and if that gives someone else the confidence to be the same, I think that would be a big win for me. I’m fine as long as I’m not hurting anyone else with what I’m saying.”
