Florence: Defender Giorgio Chiellini could miss Italy's upcoming matches against Brazil and Malta with injuries to both of his ankles.
Chiellini's left ankle was bruised during Juventus' 2-0 win over Bologna on Saturday, and Italy team physician Enrico Castellacci says the player is also still struggling to recover from a right ankle problem that kept him out earlier this season.
Italy faces Brazil in a friendly Thursday in Geneva, then visits Malta next week for a World Cup qualifier. Castellacci says a decision will be made on Wednesday whether to keep Chiellini in the squad or send him home.
