Everton to Increase Jarrad Branthwaite's Wages in New Improved Contract: Report
Manchester United are against spending more than £40 million on Everton's Jarrard Branthwaite.

Everton seem desperate to block Jarrad Branthwaite’s proposed move to Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils have put forward a bid worth £40 million plus add-ons to sign Branthwaite. Everton, however, value the 22-year-old centre-back at £70 million and are adamant about lowering the price. The footballer has already agreed to personal terms with Manchester United willing to pay him around £160k per week. His current weekly wage at Goodison Park is £40k. Everton are planning to hand Branthwaite a fresh contract where his salary will be increased to deter further interest from any other club, the Mirror reported.

Manchester United are against spending more than £40 million on Jarrard Branthwaite. As their initial offer was turned down by Everton, the Old Trafford hierarchy shifted their focus to Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old French defender was keen to join Real Madrid, who had shown interest in him when the summer transfer window opened. Manchester United, however, hijacked the deal. The Premier League club signed Yoro from Lille in a deal worth up to £58.9m.

According to several media reports, Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt is almost confirmed to join Manchester United this summer. In this situation, they are likely to turn their back on Jarrad Branthwaite. The youngster is also happy to continue with the Toffees in the next campaign. He has already started the pre-season training with his Everton teammates.

Branthwaite seems unfazed about his lengthy transfer saga. Speaking about his goals for the next season, the talented defender told Everton’s website, “I think for me it’s just about taking what I learned from last season, and the season before, and putting it all together,” as quoted by the Mirror.

“I think last season, playing all the games I did helped me put performances in and get the experience I needed. I’m going to take that into this season and keep learning. When you’ve got a good defensive record, it gives you confidence going into the new season,” Branthwaite added.

Manchester United wrapped up their first pre-season friendly on a triumphant note on Saturday. Leny Yoro made the debut for his new club in Edinburgh and impressed the fans with his defensive qualities. Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill scored for the Red Devils who won the match 2-0.
