Making popcorn in a pan, the old-fashioned way, results in fresher tasting, healthier popcorn. Make it as a yummy snack for the whole family to enjoy.
Pour enough oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pot. Turn on the burner to medium high.
Place one or two kernels of popcorn into the pot, then place the pot onto the burner. Place the lid onto the pot.
Wait until you can hear the popcorn pop. This depends on the heat and size of the pan, but is usually between 1 and 5 minutes.
Make a light layer of popcorn on the bottom of the pan, not more than one kernel deep, once the popcorn has popped.
Replace the lid and let the kernels you've added pop.
Listen for the slowing down of popping, being careful not to burn the popcorn.
Remove the pan from the burner once the popcorn has popped. Turn off the oven. Pour the popcorn into a bowl, season to your liking, and serve.
