Senior advocate H S Phoolka disturbed by allegations made against him by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee.

New Delhi: Senior advocate H S Phoolka, the lawyer for victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, has announced he was withdrawing from all cases in different courts because of allegations that he had made "personal benefits".

"I'm constrained to take a hard decision to withdraw from all the cases of 1984 riots in view of a statement made by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee,” said Phoolka.

"I have not charged a single penny for the (riot) cases but now even near clerical expenses incurred by the Gurudwara Committee are termed as wastage," Phoolka told a PTI journalist in a text message on Tuesday night.

"I'm forced to take this drastic step because these allegations immensely disturbed me," he said. Phoolka has been the face of riot victims and spoke for them on TV debates and newspaper articles.

He was appearing on behalf of the victims in riots cases filed against senior Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar.
