BANGALORE: A group of advocates allegedly attacked and assaulted a head constable and a woman constable who were escorting an accused to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court, on Tuesday evening.Head constable Basavaraju and constable Roopa, both attached to Halasur Gate Women’s police station, were later treated at Victoria Hospital. Basavaraju filed a case in Halasur Gate police station in this connection.Reacting to the incident, Advocate Association Bangalore’s general secretary P Ranganath said, “We have nothing to do with this incident. We are fighting against the injustice caused during the March 2 riots legally and law will take its own course.”Later in the night, Manjunath alias Kencha Manja, 29, was arrested from his Yelahanka residence. He is also an accused in March 2 riots case.Labourer Crushed Under Plywood SheetsA labourer was killed in an under-construction apartment after plywood sheets fell on him near Seegehalli Gate in Kadugodi on Monday. The deceased Seenappa, 50, was a native of Hosahalli village in Malur taluk of Kolar district.Held for Selling Fake Jeans PantsThe CCB sleuths have arrested Chandru alias Chandrahas (40), a resident of T Dasarahalli, for allegedly selling jeans pants misusing the names of some international brands. Jeans pants worth Rs 20 lakh have been recovered from him.
