2G case: Morani returns, surrenders passport
Special CBI Judge OP Saini had allowed Morani to travel to Thailand to get treatment for his heart ailment.

New Delhi: Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani, a 2G spectrum allocation case accused, on Tuesday returned to Delhi to face trial in a court after a gap of 10 days during, which he had gone abroad with the court's permission for treatment of his heart ailment.

Special CBI Judge OP Saini had allowed Morani to travel to Thailand to get treatment for his heart ailment from January 16 to January 22.

"Vide order January 13, accused Karim Morani was allowed to travel abroad and he has since returned. He has surrendered his passport in the court," the judge said while returning the FDRs of Rs 10 lakh deposited by Morani as security.

Meanwhile, the court concluded recording of the statement of prosecution witness Desh Raj, an upper division clerk in BSNL corporate office here.

It continued recording of the statement of CBI witness Ashish Tambawala, Senior Executive Vice President of Accounts and Finance of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. His deposition, however, remained inconclusive and would continue on Wednesday.

During recording of his statement, Tambawala identified various documents, including payment transfer letters and cheques exchanged between the alleged associate companies of Reliance ADA Group.
