New Delhi: An Uttar Pradesh court on Saturday delivered its verdict in the kidnapping of Anant Gupta, the son of Naresh Gupta, Managing Director, Adobe Systems. Three of the seven accused have been convicted for kidnapping the boy in November 2006.
The other four have been let off. The sentencing in the case will take place on Monday.
The key accused Jitender, Chhatrapal and Pawan are in jail while four others are out on bail.
The accused have been saying that they don't know Anant Gupta and have been falsely implicated.
The prosecution has cited 12 witnesses to prove their culpability including that of Anant's maid.
The police also told the court that the accused were identified by the child himself who was just three years old at that time.
The accused Chattrapal is believed to be the mastermind of this act and used to run a mother dairy booth in front of Naresh Gupta's residence in Noida.
He and his accomplices had abducted Gupta's three-year-old son Anant on Nov 13, 2006, and demanded Rs 50-crore ransom. Anant was found five days later.
