BHUBANESWAR: Police on Monday recovered at least 350 mobile phone handsets, valued at over a million rupees, from a burglar gang, two members of which were arrested. The gang had broken into a cellphone distributor’s outlet in Pokhariput area two weeks back and made away with the handsets. Going by the average value of each cellphone at ` 4,000, police put the total recovery at about ` 12 to 13 lakh. According to Airfield Police, a gang had broken into the outlet of Telmart at MIG 123 at Pokhariput Phase III on the night of June 8 and 9. The burglars had decamped with 600 handsets.  Following a complaint, a team of Airfield Police Station zeroed in on a gang of four which operated out of Nayagarh. Following a raid, two of the members of the gang - Dharmendra Pradhan and Sudhansu Sekhar Sahoo - were arrested and the team recovered 350 of the stolen goods. The police also seized three cartons of detergent powders, six cartons of shampoo and two cartons of razors from their possession. These items were stolen from Ranapur area of Nayagarh district. Police suspect that the gang was new to business and comprised four members.
