Jammu: Security forces on Monday detected and defused a 35-kg improvised explosive device in Bhaderwah area of Doda district.
They also recovered some arms and explosives from a militant hideout in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
Acting on Army information, security forces recovered the IED, kept in an aluminium carton, at Bunta area, one kilometre from Bhaderwah town. The carton contained RDX, sharpnels and detonator.
The area was cordoned off and the IED was defused within an hour on the spot, the spokesman said.
In another incident, security forces busted a natural cave type hideout at Kanthol in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district, he said.
The recoveries from the hideout included one AK-56 rifle with its five rounds, one under-barrel grenade launcher with its one grenade, three anti-personnel mines, four Chinese hand grenades, one round of rocket-propelled gun, two IEDs, 14 detonators, 80 metres of cordex wire and one radio set.
