KOCHI: The district has received 64,276 applications to register new names in the voters list for January 2012. The received applications are being verified at various taluk offices. The final list will be published on January 5. The Piravom constituency has received the largest number of applications. It has received 6,496 applications from 14 villages. The next in the list is Kalamassery which received 5562 applications. Aluva got 5449 applications. The number of applications received by other constituencies are as follows. Perumbavoor - 4614, Angamali - 3822, Vypeen - 4056, Kochi - 4995, Thrippunithura - 4627, Ernakulam - 3423, Thrikkakara - 4615, Kunnathunadu - 4916, Muvattupuzha - 4713, Kothamangalam - 4011. Paravoor received the least number of applications - 2977.The authorities have initiated measures to verify the applications without any flaws. As the byelection in Piravom constituency is round the corner, the authorities have taken steps to conduct it without any fault by appointing deputy tahasildars at village level to validate the details of applications received.
