DEEPANJALINAGAR (VISAKHAPATNAM DT): Sanjeevini, the Ayurvedic medicinal garden at NTPC's Simhadri thermal power plant township at Deepanjalinagar, Paravada, is an innovative project, which drawing a large number of visitors.Simhadri, the 2,000 mw thermal power project, has set up the medicinal garden in an extent of two acres. The garden now has as many as 77 varieties of medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs, and trees.The project management took pains to collect regular, rare and very rare medicinal plants.Detailed display boards were set up in front of the plants, with their local names and usage to educate the visitors."Without a dedicated staff, these plants and shrubs can not be maintained. The plants at the Sanjeevani garden are treated like children. When visitors praise the garden, we feel like proud parents," says K Anand Kumar, senior horticultural officer of Simhadri power project."We are using manure from our own vermicompost yard. Six specially trained persons are working at the garden," he said.A special attraction in the garden are mango trees which are only five feet high. Garden supervisor R Rambabu said that several flower varieties were also being at the garden.The garden is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm and there is no entry fee.
