Aadhar Verification Now Mandatory for These Recruitment Exams After Puja Khedkar Controversy
Following allegations against Pooja Khedkar of misusing false documents and quotas, Aadhaar verification has now been made mandatory for candidate identification in several competitive examinations

Ever since the controversy of former trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar came to light, various changes have been brought about in the recruitment examination for several major government jobs.

Pooja Khedkar was accused of making multiple attempts at the UPSC exam using forged documents. It was also claimed that she misused her quota benefits by submitting false caste and disability certificates.

To prevent such incidents in future, Aadhaar verification has been made mandatory for identification of candidates in several competitive examinations.

UPSC Examination: The Pooja Khedkar controversy was still looming when the central government on August 28 made Aadhaar based verification mandatory during the application process for all recruitment examinations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Now, while registering for any UPSC exam, candidates will have to first get their Aadhaar verification done. Aadhaar verification is also necessary at different stages of recruitment.

RRB Vacancy: The Railway Recruitment Board has made Aadhaar verification of candidates mandatory for all examinations. In the month of August, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) issued a notice which stated that candidates applying for any post will have to prove their identity through Aadhaar verification while applying.

To ensure privacy of candidates, the Railway Board has promised not to share Aadhaar details with any third party nor give it to anyone. The purpose of taking Aadhar details will be limited only to the verification of the identity of the candidate. Recruitment for RRB is ongoing and applications have started pouring in.

SSC Jobs: The central government has made Aadhaar verification mandatory for the examinations of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on September 12. Aadhaar verification has been made mandatory at every stage of recruitment along with registration for any SSC exam.

A notice issued by the Ministry of Personnel said that SSC is allowed to do Aadhaar verification for the identification of candidates at the time of registration on the ‘One Time Registration’ portal and at various stages of the Commission’s examination or recruitment test.

RPSC Jobs: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has also made Aadhaar verification mandatory to avoid fraud by fake and dummy candidates in its recruitment examinations. The Commission has now got permission from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to conduct biometric verification of candidates through Aadhaar card.

The Commission believes that making Aadhaar verification of candidates mandatory will prevent cheating as well as fraud. To confirm the identity of candidates, Aadhaar verification will be done in counseling and interview as well, apart from the written examination.
