KOCHI: In connection with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Day on May 6, the Department of Rheumatology at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, will be organising awareness and education programmes.During the event, several specialist doctors will be explaining the precautions, causes and treatment of SLE with the patients and will be clearing the doubts of patients. Actress Rima Kallingal will be the guest of honour. Medical Director Dr Prem Nair and Head of the Rheumatology Department Dr Padmanabhashenoy will speak.In Kerala, more than 30,000 people are afflicted with SLE. It can cause damage to many organs and will lead to death if not diagnosed and treated early.
