New Delhi: Eight months and expecting, the Bachchan ‘bahu’ Aishwarya is going to have her ‘god bharai’ or baby shower today, according to media reports.
Aishwarya and Abhishek are expecting their bundle of joy in November.
Amitabh Bachchan had announced the pregnancy news to the Bollywood fraternity and fans over Twitter in June. The ‘tweet’ send the whole industry in to a tizzy for not only was the first family of Bollywood expecting its newest member – but the baby would be India’s first star baby.
Enough guesses have been made about the potential sex of the baby and whether a boy or a girl would suit the family better. While Aishwarya has not spoken about her pregnancy – the matter was taken up by a mobile service that Abhishek endorses. The TV advert shows Abhishek being questioned about his baby when the ad talks about controlling the country’s population with 3G on mobiles.
The only person most enraged perhaps with Aishwarya’s pregnancy was Madhur Bhandarkar. Bhandarkar’s magnum opus ‘Heroine’ got stalled half way towards completion because Aishwarya was already three months pregnant when the news hit the industry. ‘Heroine’ had some scenes that required the actor to smoke and pose under a waterfall. Neither of the sequences were safe for the pregnant actor.
Aishwarya was unceremoniously dropped from the project and as rumours have it Kareena has replaced her in the role.
Aishwarya has not made too many public appearances since June. The shoot for a soap brand she endorses caught the first glimpse of the baby bump a few months back. Recently at ‘Mata ki Chowki’ hosted by Sanjay Dutt and the North Mumbai Durga Puja hosted by Rani Mukherjee’s family, Aishwarya was seen with Amitabh and Jaya covering her baby bump with her sari or dupatta.
Her baby shower today can be expected to be one of the biggest events on the Bollywood calendar.
