All my roles have made me step out of my comfort zone: Arjun Kapoor
His latest film, 'Tevar' has him playing a happy-go-lucky small town boy who finds himself pitted against the local goon.

In two years of his career in Bollywood, actor Arjun Kapoor has mostly played a troubled youth who falls in love and changes for the better. He has played characters which are brash and aggressive. But in 2014, Arjun's new avatar as the docile lover boy in '2 States' pleasantly surprised many including his critics. Even his film 'Finding Fanny' a small English film had him playing an aggressive character which struck a chord with the viewers.

His latest film, 'Tevar' has him playing a happy-go-lucky small town boy who finds himself pitted against the local goon after he save a girl who happens to be the goon's object of affection. In the capital to promote his film along with co-stars Sonakshi Sinha and Manoj Bajpayee and the film's director Amit Sharma, Arjun spoke about his film, his stint in Bollywood in past two years and his future projects.

Having played mostly action heroes on screen in the last two years, we asked him whether there is any role that he had portrayed which made him step out of his comfort zone. "All my roles have been such. Whenever I haven't played myself- which has been always- I stepped out of my comfort zone," explained Arjun.

"I am from Mumbai and before working in 'Ishaqzaade' I had never visited a small town," admitted Arjun and added, " I guess, as an actor that is what challenges you the most; to play varied characters. And I have thoroughly enjoyed playing each one of them. From a larger than life goon in 'Gunday' to a loser in 'Finding Fanny'- I have loved all the characters that I have played so far."

Arjun also mentioned that, "Being an actor, you have to step out of your comfort zone all the time. If you have a problem doing that, then I guess you are in wrong profession then."

While many have compared 'Tevar' to Arjun's debut film 'Ishaqzaade', Arjun stated that the characters had no resemblance." Parma of 'Ishaqzaade' was dark. He aspired to be politically strong much like his family but Pintu Shukla of 'Tevar' is a regular guy who is sweet and lovable. You can relate to him a lot more- he is the sort of person who you would know in your neighbourhood."

Arjun, who has had three releases in 2014, admits that he will take it slow after the release of 'Tevar'. "I need to relax and evaluate a bit. Not taking a sabbatical but I have decided to take it a bit slow for the time being. I don't have any film in hand right now, but I'll be back before you realize it with a good script and role for sure," said the young actor.

'Tevar' will feature Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles. The film has been directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Arjun's uncle, Sanjay Kapoor and father Boney Kapoor.
