Following the recent violence in Bangladesh and her resignation as Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina arrived in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, August 1, and is now staying in a secure location at the Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad. Sheikh Hasina’s C-130 transport plane touched down at the airbase at approximately 5:45 PM on Monday. Airbase Commander Sanjay Chopra oversaw her arrival, which was marked by a red carpet reception, indicating that preparations for her visit had been meticulously planned in advance.

The airbase, renowned for its high level of security, has been fortified to accommodate her. Garud commandos have been assigned to ensure her safety. In terms of security, Hindon Airbase is unparalleled. However, speculations are high as to why the former Bangladesh PM chose to stay at Hindon Airbase?

As the largest airbase in Asia, it is under the full control of the Indian Air Force, and its safe house has been fortified into a veritable fortress. Access to the airbase has been tightly controlled, with the entry and exit gates of the Ghaziabad station closed and barricades in place at the exit gate.

A high-level meeting with senior security officials was convened shortly after Sheikh Hasina’s arrival, featuring General Dwivedi, head of the intelligence agency, and Lieutenant General Johnson Philip Matthew, Chief of Integrated Defense Staff. Upon her arrival at Hindon Airbase, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval personally welcomed her and conducted a one-hour meeting.
