Ammonia leak at MFL Plant

CHENNAI: Locals complained of nausea and irritation in eyes following ammonia leak at the Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL) Plant at Manali on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) officials said, the leak was a minor incident and was immediately arrested. Residents complained of nausea and eye irritation for a couple of hours before the effect of the gas subsided. “Residents in our locality complained of eye irritation around 4 pm on Saturday. By 6pm the situation worsened and the people complained of nausea too,” he said.A senior TNPCB officials said the reason of the gas leak the fertilizer plant is not yet know.
