Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan on Wednesday approved the sanction of DA to the employees of state government payable from January 2014. Following the fresh hike, the DA per cent in the salary of an employee has gone up to 71.9 per cent.
This is for the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh that DA is being enhanced during the President Rule. "Around 12 lakh Government employees including pensioners would be benefited from the DA hike," a Raj Bhavan release said.
"DA for the month of May will be paid along with the salary on May 24 and the arrears of DA would be deposited in the GPF account of the employees", it said. Employees of zilla parishads, mandal parishads, gram panchayats, municipalities, municipal corporations and agriculture market committees will be benefited with the hike.
Also benefited will be the employees of zilla grandhalaya samsthas, work charged establishment, teaching and non-teaching staff of aided institutions, including aided polytechnics. According to the release, teaching and non-teaching staff of universities including Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University are also covered under the hike.
