SALEM: A large number of silver anklet merchants thronged the Sooramangalam Police station with their families complaining that a man from Maharashtra has absconded with 575 kg of silver worth `3 crore.The accused, A Amul from Sholapur in Maharastra, had settled with his family at Jagir Ammapalayam in Salem two years back. He used to get silver from small traders and convert them into anklets for them. While the transactions went on without any trouble over the last two years, for the past one week Amul was missing with his family along with 575 kg of silver given by local traders. As attempts to trace him proved futile, victims thr- onged Sooramangalam Police and pleaded for action. CoP K C Mahalai has ordered to set up a special team to trace the culprit.
