New Delhi: The premiere of Farhan Akhtar's much awaited 'Don 2' will be a cherished moment for Aamir Khan fans. Yes, you have read it right. The first look of the ace actor's next film 'Talaash' will be released with 'Don 2'.
Actually both the films are produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment and the makers couldn't have found a better opportunity to unveil the first teaser of their next film.
Directed by Reema Kagti, the film will feature Aamir Khan as a cop on mission. The film also has Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.
Aamir Khan's earlier stints as cop were appreciated in Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Baazi' and John Matthew Matthan's 'Sarfarosh'.
Although 'Baazi' is better known for Aamir's cross dressing act in a song but the actor had managed to pass off as a suave commando, something he never tried again.
The role of IPS Ajay Singh Rathod in 'Sarfarosh' fetched him not only the commercial success but also the image of a thinking actor.
The public had not noticed the subtle changes in his method acting before 'Sarfarosh'. Vikram Bhatt's 'Ghulam' was also released in the same year but both the films showcased Aamir Khan in entirely different light.
Khan was an actor with boyish charm till 'Ghulam' who could also carry seriousness of the character if required but 'Sarfarosh' needed him to leave the star quotient completely.
In addition to it, the film had realistic action sequences where Aamir had to look human unlike Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty who are one man army in themselves.
However, it's been 13 years since Aamir has played his last cop role and it would be really interesting to see whether he goes for the same style of method acting or changes the act altogether.
Reema Kagti looked promising in 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.' which was a brave attempt by any standard for a debutant.
Despite the flawed storyline and 'not so good' acting by some otherwise competent actors, the film had managed to receive critical appreciation.
She is a long time ally of Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment and knows their brand of cinema. Moreover, Kagti is coming up with a film and mega star like Aamir Khan after more than four years and thus the audiences can expect good homework from her.
The title change game has stopped with 'Talaash' and the promotional drive is going to start a good six months ahead of the release, therefore the director has all the time to concentrate harder on the film.
